Redoux x Collina Strada - March 2023

A sculptural candle in collaboration with Collina Strada. Each frog is hand-poured and one-of-a-kind, resulting in natural variations.

Infused with Redoux’s popular “529” scent and building on Collina Strada’s playful frog motif and wonderfully whimsical aesthetic world, the candle is a dream collaboration between two cultural tastemakers. Cast using a custom design and mold process and then finished by hand for a beautifully precise level of detail.

Meet the Frogs

For these little frogs, life is about the little things. Soaking up the hazy afternoon sun, indulging in cool dips in the water of their local pond, half-chasing the glittering insects that buzz above. Big Frog, the lovable leader of the pack, loves a good doze on a favorite rock, while the mischievous Baby Frog delights in frolicking among the floral landscape, playing harmless tricks on unsuspecting friends. For both, the most important thing in life is to enjoy it.

A shimmering world surrounds them with the fresh scents of summer: earthy, sweet, rich, and citrusy. Warm fragrant notes that inspire both lounging and play—all an indescribable feeling that time is nonexistent. Their afternoons stretch out, pure and endless — a blissful life meant for the senses.

Key Elements

The most striking element of this collaboration is the shape of the frog. We worked with casting and plastics master, Guilad Katz to bring the original vision to life. He created a high definition 3D printed model and cast each silicone mold by hand.

With our commitment to world building, we want to enhance the presentation of the frog by pairing a sound element to the collaboration. Composed by our co-founder Alejandro Cuevas, we made a song inspired by the personality of the frog to express the sense of fun behind the concept. You can listen to the song here.

Note from Asia

This was an extremely challenging, yet deeply inspiring project. The fact that we have never done a project like this was daunting. It was a big moment of pride for us when we launched it to the world, two years after beginning the project.

Hillary (founder of Collina Strada) was an exceptionally kind partner to us from beginning to end. At first, I wasn’t sure if Redoux was able to do something this fun and offbeat and had an underlying fear that it wouldn’t sit holistically within the brand. While working with Hillary, I was inspired by her relentless commitment to vision. She firmly reinforced that as creative directors, is it our jobs to consistently explore, experiment, and express the vision of our brands without compromise. I am so excited to bring something so fun to the Redoux world—through this project I was able to explore how the concept of play is at the root of creative exploration, and actually support the vision of a luxury brand when often it is thought as a detraction.
